Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have three weeks before I can see a dematolagests. I have a sore on my leg that started as a small bump. It is now larger in size and very tender with white seeds in the center of crater that formed and seeds around it also. Please tell what this sore could be.
The small bump with the white center or seed in the middle really sounds like a small sebaceous cyst or follicular cyst that has formed. Especially if it is raised with some mild redness around the middle. Often times a small pore becomes clogged or even a hair follicle and bacteria become trapped here causing the swelling usually with a white cap forming over time. Often applying simple antibacterial cream mixed with hydrocortisone can aide in reducing this in a timely manner.
These are very common to see in the medical clinics. Things to watch out for are enlargement of any peripheral redness that appears to be worsening, that is something that would indicate the potential need for oral antibiotics. Do keep an eye on it and keeping it covered with a small bandage can help as well
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
