Suggest Treatment For Tender Swollen Lump Near Groin Area
Hi there, I have had a lump the size of a jaffa in the crease of my groin for about a month now, It is tender to touch. Now it has lengthened (no longer a ball shape) along the crease, to about 5cm. It is still tender and has a redish purple colour. I initially thought it was an ingrown hair, but now with the size I am unsure. Can you advise me on what action should take place please. Many thanks.
I can understand your concern for the cellulitis tender swollen lump near groin area. After analyzing the query with best diligence I can make out the possibility of swollen lymph node or a cyst over the affected groin area. I suggest you to visit a doctor to get examined and then treated earliest. In my patients with your kind of problem I prefer to give a course of oral antibiotic such as cefixime or cefadroxyl or ciprofloxacin for 5-7 days as per the condition. I also suggest taking a pain killer anti-inflammatory tablet such as paracetamol or diclofenac. It is of much help in reducing the inflammation and pain of the affected area. Wear lose cotton clothes and do not wear any synthetic garments as can cause more aggravation of the condition. All the best.
