Suggest Treatment For Tenderness In The Lower Abdominal Area

I know that I have diverticulosis and have had one episode of diverticulitis a couple of years ago. I m currently experiencing tenderness in the lower right abdomen, just above the groin. This has come and gone in the recent past months. I have no appendix and have had a complete hysterectomy, including ovaries. I have a lot of scar tissue (even had a bowel obstruction about eight years ago) and I would like to think that this is a minor inflammation related to a diverticula, or a gas pocket. What do you think? No fever, no pain other than when pressed.

Hello,

As you have mentioned the history of diverticulosis, you are aware of the condition and its effects. Diverticulosis may or may not be the reason for your lower abdomen pain. As apart from slight tenderness on lower abdomen you don’t have any specific symptoms its more likely to be due to diverticulosis. So just to clear your doubts you can pay a small visit to your doctor.

After doing physical examination if required you might be asked to undergo some tests. After doing all the necessary things you will be given proper advice on management of symptoms. I usually get to see patients with similar symptoms have problem of constipation so my advice to you is to make sure you take sufficient amount of fibers in your diet so that constipation can be avoided.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
