My husband went to doc this morning the diagnosis was a tension headache. He was told to try Excedrin. He took 2 with no relief. Now he has a fever of 103.1. His symptoms include headache, nausea, fatigue and achiness. He took a tepid bath to try to get the fever down and said his skin feels like he has a sunburn, but there is no sunburn.
Tension type headache is the most common type of headache, experienced by most people at one time or the other during their lifetime, often exacerbated by stress. It is a primary headache, primary meaning that no identifiable cause can be found. In your case though your husband has high fever, so at least this current episode can't be classified as a tension type headache, perhaps your doc would say the same if he knew you have a fever. It could be influenza or some other viral illness. If the fever persists over 3 days or has other signs you should head to the doctor again to look for other infection causes. In the meanwhile try over the counter non steroid inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen for the fever and the aching.
I hope to have been of help.
