About 4 months ago I started have some weird symptoms that I ve never had before. Thick, slimy saliva with mucous, extemely annoying scratchy throat, cough, runny nose, sneezing and ONLY my left eye would water. I just made an appt. with an Otolaryngologist (ENT) but the earliest appt he had available is in September. What could these symtoms mean? It s driving me nuts!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You are having Rhinitis that is inflammation of nasal mucosa.

You are having post nasal drip also along with cough and mucus. So feeling thick saliva sensation.

However you can take anti histaminic decongestant medication like phenylephrine or levocetirizine plus montelukast combination for your Rhinitis.

Steam inhalation done three times a day with lukewarm water will be beneficial for you.

Don't take excess spicy foods.

Drink more water.

Hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
