Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doc ordered a sonohysterogram after findings from d sonogram abt thickening uterus wall and possibly polyps. Is d sonohisterogram necessary and will it solved problem or more tests will b needed? Am not for too many unnecessary tests. Please advise.
Sonohysterogram is the test which visualizes the inside of a woman's uterus and help diagnose unexplained vaginal bleeding. It helps in confirming certain uterine abnormalities like polyps, fibroids, endometrial atrophy or adhesions (or scarring), cancer and congenital defects. Hence, it seems your doctor is suspecting polyp and hence wants to confirm the diagnosis based on which the approprite treatment would be given.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
