Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
There is an area in my throat that is sore when I swallow. It is always there but the degree of sorness varies. The location is on the right front side and I have had it for about 3 weeks. I don't feel any swollen glands, but sometimes when I feel there it is tender.
Hi Sore throat may cause pain during swallowing. Its not a big problem. Some studies suggest taking pain killer like paracetamol relieves this pain. Tender nodes are seen in bacterial infection of the pharynx. An examination of the throat by a doctor is important to exclude involvement of tonsils. Aid your treatment with some supportive treatment like saline gargles, avoid very hot and very cold water and food. Co-Amoxiclav is a good combination drug, take 1gm of that twice a day for some 5 days.
