Suggest Treatment For Tightness And Irritation In Esophagus

I was given a diagnosis of unspecified connective tissue disease as a result of some lab work I had done. I was having a lot of joint pain (wrists, ankles, knees, hips). RF was neg at one lab, positive at another. Ratio on the other was 1:160. I seem to be fine most of the time but now have a strange feeling around my neck all the time, not throat, esophagus, inside but the skin and tissue beneath it. Aches at times, itches, feel tight. As far as above diagnosis anything related or can diet change help

Hello,

A few connective tissue disorders may cause difficulty in swallowing. Among them, some are:
1. Systemic sclerosis
2. Polymyositis
3. MCTD (Mixed connective tissue disease)
4. SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus)
5. GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease)
6. Barrett's esophagus

Other possibilities like diffuse esophageal spasms or achalasia may also cause tightness. Avoid spicy food, alcohol, and smoking. Also, avoid taking very hot and cold drinks.

Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
