Suggest Treatment For Toe Fracture

Hey I accidentally kicked a chair and I think I broke my toe a few days ago. Well it started to feel better and I accidentally kicked another chair and rebroke my toe. It has been about two hours and my foot still tingles a little should I go to the Er. It hurts to walk but I can hobble around.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The management of toe fracture depends upon the intensity on clinical grounds as well as alignment issues on x-ray plates. As a routine guideline, if the pain is of mild to moderate intensity, no open wounds over the skin surface:
- Foot elevation over 2-3 pillows
- Ice application
- Tape splint or ortho splint involving adjecent 2nd toe
- Avoidance of prolong weight bearing
- Analgesic and anti inflammatory medications

If the amount of pain is severe (around more than 5 over a pain scale of 10), severe soft tissue injury as crushing, active bleeding, large laceration or wounds require immediate surgical attention.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
