Suggest Treatment For Tonsil Stones And Bad Breath

Hello, I have bad breath for years, and now I have found out that the reason for bad breath is tonsil stones, I have tried my level best to take them out, but I could take only one, and could not see any other. today I have seen that Dettol(diluted) can be used as mouth wash. I did it! but after some time the bad breath is worsened!! any reason? any other better home solution to get rid of bad breath?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms the bad breath is due to tonsil stones which are calcified structures formed due to calcification of food particles and debris and they themselves are bad smelling structures as well as a potent cause of bad breath..
If you are unable to remove them by yourself then you should get it removed by an ENT expert and once they are cleared then you can maintain a proper hygiene by doing warm saline gargles, always gargling after eating anything to prevent debris accumulation in mouth and tonsils and limit the intake of dairy products as they are high calcium containing and can trigger stone formation..
For reducing bad breath the best way is to remove the cause that is tonsil stones.
Other thing is use a flavoured mouthwash for gargles.
Chew sugarfree chewing gum that too should be flavoured for stimulating saliva flow that will also reduce the probablity of stone formation as well as reduce/mask bad breath..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
