Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently was diagnosed with tonsillitis. I was given an antibiotic as treatment and all of my symptoms went away. However, my tonsils still look abnormal and are enlarged, even though I have no symptoms of tonsillitis anymore whatsoever, not even a sore throat. It almost looks like there is actually an abscess on one of my tonsils. I was also in Europe when I began to get sick, specifically Prague. Is there any chance that this actually isn t tonsillitis or is it just a severe case possibly? I m not sure if I should just leave it alone or go back to visit the doctor.
I think you should get back and visit a doctor. For the enlarged tonsils, I recommend to: - Gargle with warm water and salt - Do use oral antiseptic - Increase fluids intake especially warm teas and water - Do use ice chips to reduce enlarged tonsils - If also nasal congestion should use nasal saline spray on daily basis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
