Suggest Treatment For Torn Upper Labial Frenulum With Bleeding

Hello,
My nearly 3 years old son torn his uppet lip frenulum, it bleed for a while, obviously he cried, then he fell asleep (it was actually bed time). I have given him Nurofen. I am very concern about it, shall I see the doctor? Or leave it to heel itself??

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain tearing of upper labial frenulum occurs as one of the common injuries in children..

You need not to worry as in most of the cases the frenulum heals itself gradually and does not require any stiches.

In case there is swelling you can apply ice over the upper lip and nurofen can be given in case of pain..

In case of difficulty in eating you can apply numbing gel over the area,take care to apply only in just a small injured area and not the whole lip..

Feed him with soft diet and cool things so that the inflammation and swelling if occured will subside soon..

In case there is no resolution of symptoms consult a Paediatric Dentist..
