Suggest Treatment For Type 2 Diabetes

Hello, My father is 52 years old and he was recently diagnosed with type two diabetes. However, he was not totally convinced due to his rapid changes in his blood sugar level, For example, yesterday his blood sugar level was 85 after eating, and today it was 270 before eating. What are the causes of rapid changes in blood sugar level? Thank you in advance

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Your father has a diabetes for sure. I will explain you the criteria for diagnosis which you can tell to your father.

1. FBS >126.
2. PP2BS >200.
3 . HBA1c >6.5.
If any of the previous reports are positive then he has a diabetes.. However HBA1c report is a 3 monthly average report of blood sugar, so it is more confirmatory.
So, MY ADVICE TO YOU IS -

1. DO his HBA1c report and show it to your doctor.

2 . Tell your doctor that he has fluctuating sugar levels, so that he can prescribe you longer acting drug preparations (sustain release tablets)

3.Longer acting insulin at night time only is also a very good option.

4.Strict diet control and regular daily brisk walking for 1 hr will help to control blood sugar levels with minimal medicines.

5.Do his FBS, PP2BS AND HBA1c report every 3 monthly for adequate sugar control.

6.I can't advice you medicines for him actually, he needs a written prescription from a qualified doctor. But he definitely needs treatment.

Thank you.
Have a nice day.
