Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My wife is pregnent (3 months completed) and she is suffering from typhoid. Malerial test was also performed but that was negative. Now Dr. gave her Monosafe, Aciloc and another inj in DNS Drip... Also she wrote in her prescription Lariago.. but as I know Lariago is for Maleria and also it should be avoid during pregnency. Is this treatment right ?? Please reply as my wife and unborn baby need help of expert....
Dear sir Went through your post and I understand your concern, the Doctor is treating your patient for both both typhoid with ceftraxone and malaria with lariago, monosafe is safe in pregnancy and lariago belongs to category C which means it should be given when benefits overweigh the risk, your doctor must be of the opinion that the possibility of malaria is more than 50%in your patient and second 6months of pregnancy means the organs of your baby have already formed and lariago is less likely to cause any problem at this stage.
