General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Typhoid is a bacterial infection transmitted through contaminated food and water. Mainly affects the stomach and intestines. Often there is severe bone pain. Intravenous antibiotics are advised for minimum of five days for quick recovery. After that oral antibiotics should be continued till 14th day. Other symptomatic treatment is advised such as analgesics, antipyretics, antiemetics and Proton pump inhibitors or H2 receptor blockers.

Analgesics are advised for pain relief, fever should comes down with antipyretics. Bed rest is much needed for comfort. Since there is vomiting sensation associated with occasional vomiting, antiemetics are advised. Proton pump inhibitors or Histamine receptor blockers are advised to prevent damage to the stomach and intestines. Plenty of fluids along with soft food are advised for quick recovery. Visit the physician, if there is no improvement, for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
