Suggest Treatment For Ulcer Bleeds After Open Heart Surgery
My mother had open heart surgery on July 1st; she had a valve replaced, and is still in ICU. She has had setbacks day after day. She has Addison s Disease and takes cordizone on a daily basis; one dr says the setbacks was due to her Addison s, the other dr says just give it time. She had a severe ulcer bleed and almost lost her. She is not speaking much and or eating. Now they are telling us, she is having problems with her kidneys. What can be causing all of these issues?
Stress (physical/illness) ulceration can sometimes occur in person who is ill and the reduced intake may be affect blood flow to the kidneys. This is called prerenal failure.
If there is an infection present, it would also place additional stress on the kidneys and stomach. Addison's would affect her stress response.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
