Suggest Treatment For Ulcerative Colitis

I recently had a colonoscopy. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2006 and have been under the care of a Gastroenterologist since that diagnosis. During the most recent colonoscopy my doctor removed 4 polyps for biopsy and later told me that there was evidence of, not cancer, but two steps below cancer. I can t remember the term the doctor used. My question is, what are the chances that I will get cancer in the future. I am a 63 year old white male.

Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, yes chances of cancer especially colonic is higher than the general population and even more than ten times prone than general people.

However, timely diagnosis, surgical extraction, and serial colonoscopies increase life expectancy and leading to a healthy life.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
