Suggest Treatment For Unhealed Sand Fly Bites
Hello, I was attacked by no see ums in Florida during Spring Break. My bite are not healing even after 3 shots of steroids, two courses of oral steroids, two courses of antibiotics, and even got treated for scabies(twice). Despite all the medications mentioned above, topical steroids has helped but not completely heal the bites. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Since you have been bitten by sand flies, you are suggested not to touch, pick or scratch the bites, it will trigger wound infection. Some sand fly bites take a long time to heal. Have patience. Apply hydrocortisone ointment, ointment containing aloe vera or calamine lotion to the area affected for relieve.
If you are getting sores and ulcers you will need antibiotics and repeat course of oral steroids. Since you had scabies and if they are coming again, apply Ascabiol lotion in the area affected, leave it for 40-50 minutes and then take a bath. Repeat after 15 days, you will get rid of it. In the meantime, wash your clothes, bed sheets and laundry with warm water and Savlon or Dettol. Take care of your hygiene.
