Hello,

Pain in the upper back after C-section is very common because of overstretching of muscles and sometimes due to calcium deficiency. The causes may be stretching of muscles, calcium deficiency, any neurological pain due to anesthesia (this occurs immediately after C-section and recovers within 1 month), or thoracic intervertebral disc prolapse.

As treatment, pain medications like NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and Aceclofenac are to be taken for 14 days. As they may cause gastric irritation, tab. Pantop is prescribed before food. Neuromodulators of pain like tab. Pregabalin is to be taken for 14 days. If your pain doesn't come down with above treatment or if it worsens, please do contact an orthopedic surgeon for detailed clinical examination and if necessary any tests like X-rays and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

No, I do not think it is too late. I suggest you first to see your GP doctor. After he or she will examine you closely will decide where to refer you further if needed or maybe will recommend to do a MRI of the spinal cord to evaluate the vertebrae.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
