Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. Siddartha's Response
Hello,
As your (dad's) renal function is normal, Gentamicin or Amikacin drug can be taken. Start treatment as soon as possible.
Usually, any other infections like UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) causes hyperglycemia and needs to increase the dose of hypoglycemic drug. Ask your doctor for dosage and duration.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
