Hi there and thanks for sharing your question with us on HCM.
I understand that you have attempted to treat the
thrush using a cream. The problem with cream is sometimes, it does not get deep enough to properly treat the infection. You may require a pessary or a short course of oral treatment to properly deal with the infection. I am also concerned that you may have another infection, like vaginosis.
I recommend that you see your regular doctor and let them examine you using a vaginal speculum. If you have not done a
Pap smear screening test yet (every lady needs to do this test yearly to test for
cervical cancer) this year, it can be done at the same time. They may need to send off some swabs (high vaginal swabs) to confirm the diagnosis. Swollen
vulva lips and blood in your discharge could be due to intercourse. When the vagina is infected, its mucus lining easily swells and bleeds during friction. Check your partner as well as he may be infected by you. Both of you need to get treated to prevent reinfecting each other.
I hope your advice helps. Thanks and take care,
Dr Shabnam
