Suggest Treatment For Vertigo And Severe Nausea

I am worried about a friend of mine who has not been able to get a diagnosis or treatment for constant vertigo or dizziness. He is 62 yr old, been to ear specialist, neurologist, MRI, CT scan, no luck with finding cause. First episode included severe nausea, now any sudden movement with body or moving head worsens symptoms. He walks very carefully because he feels unstable. When he drives, other traffic close to his car really bother him.. Please help

Hello,

Your friend is suffering from vertigo and severe nausea. He also gets severe nausea and symptom worsens with moving head. It is affecting his driving and walking. Vertigo causes the person to feel he is spinning when he is still. It is due to the inner ear problem that helps to keep the body balanced.

It causes trouble in walking due to spinning sensation. He is advised to stay at rest and he should not drive. Spinning sensation triggers nausea and may cause to vomit. He should stay away from any type of anxiety or stress (emotional or physical). Let him relax. Other factors that can trigger vertigo are migraine, hypoglycemia, hypotension, exhaustion, etc.

He can take Vertin -16 (Betahistine (16mg) , one SOS when needed to help vertigo reduce. He can take it twice daily for 5 (five) days. He will feel better. He should take adequate water, fluids and beverage so that his body electrolyte system is normal.

He should maintain his blood glucose level and blood pressure at normal level to stay stable. He should get clinically examined by an ENT, get required tests and investigations done so that treatment can be started at the earliest. He should stay away from smoking, alcohol and addictions if any. He should not skip meals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
