Hi,
I have gone through your query and i can understand your concerns.
As per your description your baby is having simple URTI(upper
respiratory tract infection). In most of the cases it is viral in origin. It can be bacterial also.
I have seen many such cases in OPD,there is no need to worry and it will subside with in a week.
As a first line therapy would prescribe paracetamol syrup, dose of which calculated according to weight of the kid.You can also use SND(saline nasal drops) to relieve
nasal congestion.Tepid sponging would be helpful.
If the fever persist or the kid has tachypnoea( increased
respiratory rate) or noisy breathing we have to start her on antibiotic syrup some routine investigations like CBC(
complete blood count) and a chest X-ray might be needed.
Based on my experience I suggest you to wait for two more days,You can continue calpol(paracetamol). If the fever persist please
consult a pediatrician for evaluation.
Do not worry regarding this and she will be fine after few days.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
