Hi,
Since there was no sexual contact so the possibility of HIV is rare and remember HIV doesn't spread through Saliva [negative reports confirmed the same], so one has to exclude certain other diseases which can spread through saliva like
common cold [flu], herpes, hepatitis.
- It will be wise to check with a Pathologist or infectious disease specialist to have a thorough workup and examination to exclude the cause of the fever, till then the symptom wise approach is as follow:
i. Most fevers encountered in general practice are viral, self-limiting and require only symptomatic treatment but to allay
anxiety.
Seek an opinion of Medicine specialist who will look [as a compulsory routine] for pallor,
jaundice, abdomen for liver and spleen and auscultate the chest.
If there is a running
epidemic e.g. malaria,
influenza,
viral hepatitis or typhoid in the locality, then that cause must be thought of first.
PS. though many of the fever in general practice are viral and harmless, one should always try to find the cause of the fever by evaluating the associated symptoms.
If the fever does not reduce within 3-4 days of empirical treatment, investigate in details or consult a physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
