Suggest Treatment For Vitamin D Deficiency In A Child
My 8 year old daughter has low level of vitamin D after she has gone through 6 cycle of Chemotheraphy Doctor advised Calcirol sachet one per week for 5 weeks As Doctor is away for vacations, I forgot to ask whether to give full calcirol sachet with milk . What is right dose? When should it be taken ? Morning or bed time?
Yes...for an age of 8 years, the whole of the sachet should be given. Like other fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, and K), vitamin D is better absorbed if taken with a meal that contains fat. Studies have found that taking vitamin D with dinner—usually our heaviest meal—increased blood levels by 50 per cent. Don’t give D at dinner if she eats late, though, since it interrupts the body’s production of melatonin and can disrupt sleep.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
