Suggest Treatment For Vitamin-D Deficiency In Infant
My pead had recommended Calcirol sachet for 8 week (one for a week), said looks Vit D deficiency for my 6 month old son after just looking to him not test conducted. Pharmacy told 60000 IU is high dose for infant. Could you please guide us whether my pead is right on recommend medicine.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. What Pharmacy person has told is right. It is too high dose for a 6 month old infant. Also if only Vitamin D supplement is given, it may not suffice. Alternate what can be done is, you can give Calcimax P syrup 2.5 ml daily till 1 year and 5 ml per day after 1 year. It contains Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium and Zinc along with Vitamin D, what is really essential for growing infant. That will help the child better. You may consult Child Specialist in this regard before administering it. Hope the information provided is clear. All the best.
