Hi, may I answer your health queries rightnow ? Please type your query here...I would like to know if there is any treatment for Vitiligo. It is heredetary so will it go to our childrens if my father has it. Is there any treatment which can manage that it is not transfererred to next generation. What are the chances that it will be there in next generation?
I can understand your concern for the problem of vitiligo in yourself and related concerns to get passed on in next generation. Vitiligo or white skin disease is caused due to less or impaired activity of specific cells known as "melanocytes". Though the cause has not been exactly identified but is proposed that is due to formation of auto-antibodies to these cells. The treatment option are multiple including topical and oral steroids along with certain immuno-modulator drugs. It is not necessary that it can get passed to next generation so do not worry about the same. You can get further guidance from a dermatologist. All the best.
