Suggest Treatment For Vomiting And Diarrhea

Had leg and knee surgery 5 weeks ago - stopped pain meds after 4 days after surgery. Knee and leg pain minimal, but have been nauseous with vomitin and diarrhea ever since. Feel better in the evenings but wake up very sick in the mornings and lasts all day until the evening. Spoke to surgeon and primary care and landed in the ER - all are stumped. I have an appt with a GI specialist tomorrow morning. Zofran and phenergan have not helped - actually made me worse. Any thoughts? I need to get over this

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems to be infectious lesion in gastrointestinal tract. You can take antacid like rabeprazole for week to reduce acid load and so inflammed mucosa will heal.

However upper gastrointestinal endoscopy should be done to visualize interior of stomach.

Drink more water, Don't take excess spicy foods, cooked oatmeal help in soothing stomach.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
