Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

For better opinion I want to know -
- Any associated heart disease.
- Why do you think there is water retention in you.
- Any associated symptoms like fever, breathing difficulties.

You should consult your doctor for detailed clinical examination.

There may be following possibilities for water retention -
- Drug induced like pioglitazone which is a antidiabetic medicine.
- Heart disease : Due to poor pumping capacity of heart.
- Kidney disease : Due to inability of kidney to excrete extra water.
- Hypoproteinemia due to Liver disease or Kidney disease.
- Anemia (low Haemoglobin).

Depending upon detailed clinical evaluation there may be need for -
- Complete Blood Count.
- Renal function test.
- Liver function test.
- Urine examination including 24 hours Urine protein.
- ECG & 2DEcho of heart.
- Ultrasonography of abdomen and pelvis.

Depending upon it appropriate decision can be taken.

Water pill (diuretics) like furosemide may be helpful.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
