Suggest Treatment For Weakness In Legs And Numbness In Thighs

I have developed weakness in my legs and some numbness in my ties over the last week. Today the same has happened to my left arm. A week ago I had my hair dyed and it caused irritation for a couple of hours at the time. I m wondering if there is a connection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

All causes of neuropathy or peripheral neuropathy should be ruled out. Diabetes, Sciatica, Nutritional deficiencies such as vitamin B12 deficiencies, autoimmune disease, certain medication side effects should be ruled out. Treatment is based on the cause.

Hot compress and vitamin B12 injection can reduce the symptoms. Calcium deficiency can also cause thigh pain and weakness. Serum electrolytes should be measured to check any abnormalities. Adequate hydration is also essential.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
