Hi, welcome to Healthcare Magic!
Menopause is a stage in women's life when her reproductory
hormonal production becomes almost negligible. The main of these hormones is oestrogen. Oestrogen is produced from
cholesterol which is a fat product. Since the oestrogen production is minimised, the cholesterol in the body goes on accumulating. The requirement of the fat for oestrogen production diminishes and therefore fat goes on accumulating in the body which is responsible for weight gain. Therefore after menopause, there is increased risk of cardiovascular accidents to the women.
It is very important for a woman to control the weight after menopause - not only for the sake of figure but for the sake of health. The usual diet which was maintaining the figure in premenopausal period is sufficient to increase the weight.
The fat intake and in all caloric intake should be minimized. Particularly empty calories like alcohol are very bad for the body. Also, chocolate will take still more calories due to amount of sugar and cream in it. Citrus fruits, melons are good for you. Avoid Mango, banana, grapes and custard apples. Include green leafy vegetables and roughage in diet.
Regular exercise is a key to keep you in form and healthy. Daily minimum 40 minutes walk in open air at the pace of 90 steps per minute will help you.
I am sure with this change in lifestyle, you will be happy within a months period.
