Suggest Treatment For Welt At The Base Of Neck

I have a welt at the base of my neck above my collarbone that appeared last night. It s much larger than a mosquito bite (about the size of a dime, but oval in shape) and is hard and red to the touch. I thought perhaps I was bitten by a spider, but I do not see any bite marks. It s not going down at all. It kind of itches, but I m concerned that it is not going away. What do you think might cause this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The welt with hard and red to touch area indicates inflammation at the site which may be reactionary to spider bite or else.

My guidelines at present

- keep the part clean with antiseptic liquid or soap
- local application of neomycin cream
- prescription of anti inflammatory and antibiotics ( as cephalosporin or others ) medications

* Remaining in regular follow up with your doc, will give best results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
