Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Wheezing And Breathing Difficulty
After taking a deep breath I felt like I was choking to near death. I couldn t talk, couldn t get any air for about a minute then had gasping wheezing attack for about another 30 seconds. This has happened in the middle of the night during sleep also. Not often and no precipitating or any type of triggering factor. It is very frightening. What is this?
The symptoms seem to point towards asthma. Asthma is an over reactivity of the airways, which could be allergic. Most attacks come during the night. Some things that could help you might include changing and washing your bed sheets frequently. Getting rid of carpets and rugs in your room. Avoiding dusty environments. In case you have an animal at home, it might just be the cause. I suppose visiting your physician for a chest exam would be useful. The sooner you begin with appropriate treatment, the chances of controlling it , and preventing it from worsening are greater.
