Suggest Treatment For Wheezing And Cough Along With Acute Insomnia
Hi, my friend is quite sick and honestly I m in my first year of pre-vet and am kind of fascinated by it. These are her symptoms: Acute insomnia (hasn t slept for 3 days, no history of this before) Wheezing cough (phlegm buildup too) Hot flashes Chills Night Sweats Lethargy Her father had a strain of bronchitis that flatlined him (he was resuscitated), but it was determined he had a certain gene that may have caused that. She was in contact with animals recently as her parents have a farm. Possibly zoonotic?
Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods which can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines.
You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active.
It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week-and to try to avoid taking naps during the day. Prescription sleep medicines any also help and include diazepam and similar medications.
Melatonin is supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases special testing is needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
