Suggest Treatment For Wheezing

Dear Doctor, I do smoke and have noticed wheezing when I laugh for a minute or so. I am very worried that I may have emphaseyma or worse. I keep thinking about giving up smoking but seem to put off doing it. I am 56 years old and just slightly overweight. Please can you help me?

Hi dear...if its just a stray bout of wheezing which you have noticed recently, just take tab.deriphylline two times a day after meals for three- five days.
And if your symptoms still persist I would suggest you to get a pulmonary function test done to rule out all your worries about the state of your lungs. Its a simple test , non invasive which can be done in the outpatient which gives you information on the pattern of the function of your lungs especially since your a smoker. Its certainly good for yourself if you can atleast try to avoid smoking during the episodes of wheezing.
I hope this answers your query.
Take care.
