Suggest Treatment For White Bumps On Tongue

Yes, I had two white bumps in the middle of my tongue last week that really hurt and wouldn't go away even after several days of using listerine. They were white and raised up quite high above the surface and hurt. so a few days ago I took a pair of tweezers and plucked them off. one of them bleed and the other one didn't. it stayed sore for a few days but seems to be OK now. Your thoughts on what it was and my solution to the matter. good or bad?? Larry

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per query you have white bump on your tongue . Well the symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as lie bump also known as ' transient Lingual Papillitis ' . This occur when papillae on the tongue get irritated due to various reasons like hot and spicy food , acid drinks or food , and any other minor injury . This condition can also occur due to stress and hormonal changes . Although they can be uncomfortable, lie bumps aren’t serious and usually clear up without treatment and within a few days. But your should not pluck then by your own as then can get infected and cause further complications . I would suggest you to consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine carefully and rule out conditions like scarlet fever , syphilis and traumatic fibroma . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . For now do warm saline rinses several times a day and maintain proper oral hygiene .
