I have an issue with my eye it felt something was in it I kept rubbing it after a few hour it begun to water then a white substance formed in the corner of my eye. In the morning when I woke up my eye had crust on it and I had to blink really hard to get it open. My eye lid was puffy as well. I put a warm rag on it an my eye went down. as a few hours have went by my lid hurts a little and my eye is running a little. what should I do about this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It sounds like you may have a stye in your eyelid, which is a small infection and abscess in the eyelid, which may have drained pus, which could have been the white substance you are referring to.

If this is the case, no antibiotic drops are typically needed, you can just us a warm compress, like a towel, 10-15 minutes, 4 times a day, to help it drain.

Usually, this will resolve within a week, but if it doesn't, then I would recommend you have a doctor take a look at it to make sure what this is and get you started on the right treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
