Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor, I am a 22 yrs old man and I have this little white lump with a smaller black head on its tip on my gums near my wisdom tooth, this occured after my gums were swelling on that area, it doesnt hurt nor does it bleed do I need to be worried? should I visit my dentist?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems to be a gum abscess which is caused due to infection and inflammation of the the gums at the site of wisdom tooth and commonly occurs due to food lodgement in that area..
You need not to be worried as the white lump is due to pus accumulation in that area leading to formation of a gum abscess.. Consult a dentist and get the scaling of the area done to remove the pus and infection and he/she will also advise you a course of antibiotics for complete resolution of infection..
You can also get an x ray of the wisdom tooth done and if it is impacted extraction of the wisdom tooth will give you a permanent cure..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
