Hi,

White lines over nails can be due to various reasons varying from normal damage to the nail while the nails grow to protein or mineral deficiency. It can also be due to any minor trauma to the nail. If your are eating a healthy normal diet with sufficient minerals, vitamins and protein then you can ignore the problem. You can try a multi-vitamin with zinc if you feel your diet lacks sufficient vitamins and minerals. Black discoloration under the nail over the edges could be dirt or just a normal discoloration. You can ignore it. Try using a neutral nail paint if its bothering you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
