Hi,
The reasons of the
white spots may be:
1. A skin disorder known as
idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis. Usually, it is due to over-exposure of certain area of body to the sun. Usual myth is that over-exposure to sun causes dark spots and not
hypopigmentation. Rather in this disorder over- exposure to sun for a very long time causes damage to the skin and hence white spots. These are painless, benign and usually seen more in people with light skin. It appears in younger age in women than it does in men.
2. Deficiency of calcium, vitamin D and E may also cause white spots. However, these spots are also harmless still may be cured by healthy diet and taking the needed supplement
3.
Vitiligo may be another disease thought to be an auto-immune disease.
Treatment of white spots may be:
1 Low dose corticosteroid cream like 1%
hydrocortisone cream locally
2. A non steroidal cream elidel
3. Ultraviolet light treatment along with topical creams
4. For cosmetic purpose bleaching of the surrounding area to fade the surrounding skin or tattooing of the white patches may give some desired results
