Suggest Treatment For Withdrawal Symptoms Of Wellbutrin

Thank you so much, dear friend having scary side effects; Just found out she took herself off of Wellbutrin some months ago without telling her doctors-- had a new breast cancer, surgeries and hard time with radiation... her mind scattered, struggling, not eating meals for 4-6 weeks; was put on Effexor XR 10/20/16 and now much Higher dose of it yesterday. Effexor4 has many side effects that she is already been havings. Marsha is 75. What anti-depressant could she take that is not a SSRI or SNRI that would be safe with Tamoxafen & Boniva -- that would not have all the nausea, fatigue, dizziness sleep disturbance, mood changes, etc??? Hello,

Given the limitation you make it is a little difficult to make a recommendation. That is because SSRIs are actually preferred precisely because they are the safest in particular at that age. Other antidepressants like tricyclics have a higher potential for side effects.

I am not sure why you want to exclude SSRIs. Wellbutrin is not an SSRI, while Venlafaxine is an SNRI. So you don't seem to mention an SSRI if that is the case an SSRI like citalopram would be advised, the antidepressant with the lower potential for side effects.
