Hi Janice..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain Oral thrush is a fungal infection caused by Candida Albicans and it is an opportunistic infection and immediately proliferates when there is low immunity..

In case of diabetics the immunity is low and as you are not taking any medications there may be times when your blood sugar levels must get high and compromising your condition..

The most probable cause for Oral thrush in your case is Diabetes..

You should consult a Diabetologist and get proper evaluation done and should start taking Oral Hypoglycemic Drugs which will keep your blood sugar under control..
I have seen many patients in my practice who gets thrush and once they start taking oral hypoglycemics for diabetes the infection starts resolving even without antifungal medicines..

You should also start taking oral hypoglycemics, continue gargling with nystatin mouthwash and if after clinical evaluation the diabetologist will find it necesaary he will advise you to take oral antifungal medicines like Fluconazole..

Take more of Probiotics in diet like Yoghurt and garlic..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
Thrush can affect anyone, though it affect most commonly people with weakened immune systems.
While healthy adults can be effectively treated for thrush, the symptoms may be more severe and difficult to manage in those with weakened immune systems. Antifungal medications, which are generally taken for 10 to 14 days, are often prescribed to treat thrush.Treatment is also required to treat underlying medical problem.

The following can be done to prevent thrush:
1.Follow good oral hygiene practices. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss at least once a day.
2.Don't overuse mouthwashes or sprays containing antiseptics & corticosteroids. These products can destroy the normal balance of microorganisms in your mouth.
3.See your dentist regularly. Especially if you have diabetes or wear dentures.
4.Limit the amount of sugar and yeast-containing foods you eat. Foods such as bread, beer, and wine encourage candida growth.
5.If you smoke, quit Smoking. Ask your doctor or dentist about ways to help you kick the habit.

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved.
