Hi Some 8 years back I had antibiotics and had severe yeast infection on my penis which tool close to 3 weeks subside - the same happened some 2 years back and again this was due to some mediction I took - recently say last January onwards - I got the same but this time it is milder and not going away it is more than 6 months since it is on and off - I did my blood test and it shows as my sugar levels are high - fasting -176 and post some 200 -is due to thisp - if so how do I cure this problem?
Since you have history of diabetes, it may take time to cure. You are suggested to get your blood glucose level under control at all cost. If you were in open relationship with multiple partners then get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. Early treatment is best effective.
Apply anti-fungal cream, Miconazole-lotrimin AF on the area affected. Cotrimazole cream is equally effective. Hydrocortizone ointment can be applied if it is chronic or resistant. You can take a course of oral Fluconazole. Avoid sex for a couple of days. Take care of your hygiene. Keep the genital area clean & dry. Wear cotton clothes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
