Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had an extremely painful sore throat. Feels like swallowing knives. Going on 2 weeks now. Went to ENT for sore on my tongue. Got a biopsy. Diagnosed with squamous cell papilloma. Is that and my sore throats related? Also, I ve got bad bruising underneath my tongue from a dental procedure from last spring that never went away and still hurts every day. I need help.
Squamous cell papilloma are common benign neoplasms caused commonly due to Human Papilloma Virus infection..
For pain in throat you should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
Your throat can be scoped along with throat swab culture to rule out the exact cause of sore throat.. Viral infection can be a cause for sore throat..
Bruising under the tongue caused by trauma during dental procedure should have healed by now and if it is still not healed you should consult a Dentist to check for the cause of the lingering pain as it can be due to infection..
For now you should do warm saline gargles, take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. Suck Cepacol lozenges to reduce pain.. You can also take a soft diet and drink warm water..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
