Suggest Treatment Option For Bed-wetting Problem In Children

My almost 9 yr old grandson has a bedwetting problem almost every night. I think it is starting to bother him mentally. He tries so hard but only is dry once in awhile. I know years ago there was a medication for my son that worked great for him. What can we do for my grandson? Will have to wait until my payday to pay fee for your answer.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

First you should try he reduces fluid intake after late evening, and he must pass urine before going to bed, set alarm system that should alert the diaper change time. It is better to avoid the drugs, but if needed Desmopressin nasal spray are very helpful, also Tricyclick antidepressant like Clomefranil in very low dose may be help full but are sedating. These drugs must not be taken without prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
