Suggest Treatment Required For Lumbar Spine Based On The Following Result Of Ct Exam

recently had CT exam of lumbar spine with l2-3 severe degenerative disc disease, 4mm retrolisthesis with disc bulge and superimposed 4mm central disc protrusion narrowing dural sac to 7mm with vacuum disc phenomena and l3-4 disc bulge with stenosis and impingement on l4 nerve roots, left disc protrusion contacts left l3 nerve root in lateral foramen. what are my treatment options?

Hey.

Welcome to HCM.

Let me tell you that, a very small number of people with herniated discs eventually need surgery.

If i were your treating doctor, then i would have started conservative treatment for you by giving analgesics and anti-inflammatory medicines.

Along with conservative treatment i would have also advised you for Physiotherapy.

If conservative treatment fails to improve your symptoms after 6 weeks, then i would have planned for surgery especially if you continue to experience,
1. Numbness or weakness.
2. Difficulty in standing or walking.
3. Loss of Bowel or Bladder control.

If at all surgery is done, then we need to remove the protruding disc.
