Hi,
I understand your query.
I pill is an
emergency contraceptive pill. It's a high dose hormonal preparation that acts by postponing ovulation, & thus avoids conception out of unprotected sex.
The side effects include-
- hormonal imbalance caused by sudden rise in hormonal level in blood- thus normal menstrual cycle is disturbed. This affects next 2-3 menstrual cycle too.
- Breast changes .. soreness, engorgement, discharge,
- spotting in between periods,
- more serious effects are
jaundice,
blood clots which may affect different parts of body like periferal veins/ lungs/ eyes/ heart vessels
* That is why I pill can not be used for regular
contraception. It's use ie restricted for emergency only.
For regular contraception there are many options like condom/ IUds/
Oral pills of different types/ injectable contraceptives. Any one of them can be adopted with a gynecologist's advise depending on patients health & need.
Thanks.
