Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

If you are on long term steroids your body's cortisol production will go down. Please let me know if the cortisol values were taken at 8 am in the morning, as evening cortisols can be low.

If your cortisol levels are low your doctor will confirm it with cortisol stimulation tests (Insulin tolerance test). The treatment of decreased cortisol is taking regular steroid medication at a lower dose.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help

With warm regards,

Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
Consultant Endocrinologist.
