Suggest Treatment To Control Sugar Levels

my sugar has been going up. Was told to try glimepiride, by now 4 gr., and stop metformin for help with my sugar. Glimepiride helped a lot when I first started it (1 mg) but then it stopped after 30 days and I have incrased it since then upon advice of my Dr. but the sugar is going up anyway and is over 300 now and I am not taking metformin any longer. I am getting worried and am wondering what is happening to my Pancreas. Do you have any advice ?

Dear madam i can understand your concern.
I am sorry to hear you have been having difficulties getting your blood sugar previously. I am very happy you are this conscientious because having a well controlled blood sugar is very important in preventing the onset of diabetic complications.
In my opinion metformin is a very good drug and we need to consider stopping metformin if its giving lots of gastric intolerance.
This medication glipizide is a drug which stimulates your pancreas and increases insulin output from pancreas
by using this kind of drugs pancreas will go into secondary failure and will not respond to drugs in future.
So considering this kind of side effects usually we will prefer to use drugs like DPP-4 inhibitors as second line of medication which will preserve your pancreas.
i suggest you to restart metformin along with DPP-4 inhibitors
kindly discuss with your doctor for further course of action.
