Tumors blocking the Bile duct. The age of the patient is 87 yrs. old. what are the treatment options for such condition. The tumors may be malignant. What are the survival outcome of such conditions. Bilirubin test results 3x above normal range. Thank you concerned son-in-law
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Associated chronic diseases will complicate open surgery. 2. Laproscopic excision or biopsy is to be done initially to evaluate type of lesion and also to remove bile duct compression. 3. Open surgery or chemotherapy can be difficult at this age and identification of type of tumor will help in palliative Care. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
